Abhijit Nakshatra

Abhijit Nakshatra

Abhijit Nakshatra starts from the last pada of Uttarashada Nakshatra and it extends up to 1/15th part of Shravana Nakshatra. It lies between 276 degrees 40 minutes to 280 degrees 53 minutes 34 seconds. The major portion of Abhijit Nakshatra lies in Makara Rashi and Meena Navmansha.

Abhijit means “Victorius” or the one who can not be defeated. In Geeta, Lord Krishna had said that He is Shiva among Rudras; He is Arjun among Pandava and He is Abhijit among Nakshatras. I hope this statement alone from the almighty God is sufficient to explain the importance of Abhijit Nakshatra. Our classical texts mention Abhijit as one of the most auspicious time for doing any auspicious activity excepting traveling to southern direction. Its deity is Lord Brhama. Our Vedic texts also mention that 28 minutes before and 28 minutes after 12:00 clock is called as Abhijit Muhurata. The Twelve O clock time is for both mid night and mid day. All of us know that Lord Rama was born at 12:00 O clock mid day and Lord Krishna was born at 12:00 O clock mid night. Here I am mentioning about Lord Krishna who is son of Shri Vasudeva and not the Almighty Lord Krishna Himself. This further points the importance of Abhijit Nakshatra.
