Navamsha D-9

 Navamsha D - 9 Divisional Chart 

As per BPHS, Navamsha or D-9 is divided into 9 equal parts of 3 degrees 20 minutes each. To calculate Navamsha chart for Chara rasi or moveable sign, counting starts from the rasi itself. For dwiswabhav rasi, counting starts from 5th house from the rasi. For sthira rasi, counting starts from 9th house. For example, if a planet is placed in Mesha rasi in between0 degrees to 3 degrees 20 minutes, it will be placed in Mesha Navamsha.  From 3 degrees 20 minutes to 6 degrees 40 minutes,  it will be placed in Vrishabha Navamsha & so on. If a planet is placed in Vrishabha rasi in between 0 degrees to 3 degrees 20 minutes, it will be placed in Makara Navamsha & so on.

Alternate method 2 to calculate Navamsha are as under 

For Agni Tatwa rasi i.e. 1/5/9, counting starts from Mesha

For Prithvi Tatwa rasi i.e. 2/6/10, counting starts from Makara

For Vayu Tatwa rasi i.e. 3/7/11, counting starts from Tula

For Jala Tatwa rasi, i.e. 4/8/12, counting starts from Karka

The key point to remember in this method is Chara rasi from counting starts each time 

Alternate method 3

Multiply the number of completed rasi by 9. Add the number of Navamsha occupied. Expunge multiples of 12 from the rasi. The remainder will indicate the Navamsha rasi. For example, if a planet is placed in Karka rasi 3 degrees. Planet has completed 3 rasi. Multiply 3 with 9. It is 27. Add the Navamsha number. As planet is in first Navamsha, we get 28. Expunge multiple of 12, i.e. 24 so we get 4. So planet is in Karka Navamsha. 

Planet placed in Navamsha in a rasi is to be seen with respect to rasi chart. Suppose its Tula Lagna rising. Venus is placed in Tula Navamsha. So we will say that planet is placed in Tula Navamsha which is the rasi of lagna of rasi chart hence auspicious. This placement is called as Laganamsha.  

Similarly, a planet in Navamsha if placed in rasi of 2nd house of rasi chart, it will be called in Dhanamsha. And so on. 

A planet placed in rasi of 6/8/12 houses of rasi chart is not auspicious. Especially in the rasi of 8th house of rasi chart as it indicates loss of significations of lordship & karakatwa especially when it is ill placed in rasi chart under malefic influence. For example, Venus in Navamsha is placed in rasi of 8th house of rasi chart & in rasi chart it is placed in 6/8/12 house with a malefic under malefic aspect, it will indicate loss of marital happiness & person may not even marry. Similarly, Navamsha lagna should not rise with rasi of 6/8/12 houses of rasi chart. Another example; say its Tula lagna rising & Venus is placed in own Vrishabha Navamsha. Do not consider this as auspicious own Navamsha as it is placed in rasi of 8th house of rasi chart & it will give unnatural death by accident. 

Navamsha is seen for all aspects of life. For predicting marriage & marital life, D-9 is very important divisional chart. 

The designations of Navamsha are Deva, Manushya & Rakshasa in repetitive order in Chara rasi. Sthira rasi divisions are Manushya, Rakshasa & Deva. Dwiswabhava rasi designations are Rakshasa, Deva & Nara. The results are as per their names. 

Houses of D-9

When we examine D-9 by superimposing with rasi chart keeping lordships of rasi chart, it will show results for the native. When we analyze D-9 chart taking lordship of D-9 chart, it will indicate results for spouse. For example, dasa of unafflicted 9th lord in rasi chart may indicate luck factor, very less stress, limited work pressure etc. but if that 9th lord becomes 6th lord in D-9 chart, its dasa will give debts or disease or enemies for spouse. It can give clashes from spouse side.

First House 

Overall promise of marriage. The inclination of person to marry. A natural benefic in lagna indicates strong inclination to marry whereas a natural malefic in lagna especially afflicted or debilitated may indicate that person is not inclined for marriage. It does not mean that person is not interested in sex. We expect Navamsha lagna & lagna lord should be strong in horoscope.

How to analyze D-1 & D-9 & superimpose D-9 

Venus is the key planet for marriage & marital happiness for both genders. For Females, Jupiter comes in to picture in the case of nuclear family.  

Lagna lord of rasi chart should be well placed in D-9 chart. If placed in trik houses, it indicates trouble through spouse.  

7th lord of rasi chart & Venus should be well placed in D-9 chart. 

7th lord & lagna lord of rasi chart should not be in 6/8 position from each other in rasi chart & D-9 chart.

Rajyogas present in D-9 will give good position for both native & spouse. For native, Raj Yogas formed in rasi chart should repeat in D-9 chart for at par excellent results 

If most of the planets are exalted in D-9 chart, it shows great positivity for both native & spouse. For example, if Venus is placed in own /friendly/ exalted rasi in rasi chart & is exalted & well placed in D-9 chart, it means that native will have great affection & love for spouse. 

A planet debilitated in rasi chart but exalted in D-9 chart means that there will be problems & struggle in early phase of its dasa but later on native will succeed in maintaining its significations. If reversed, it means that native will get the good significations of planet but to eventually loose it.

Any divisional chart rising with a rasi whose lord is combust, ill placed & afflicted in rasi chart shows negative significations of that divisional chart for the native. For example, if Mesha Navamsha is rising & Mars is combust, placed in trik houses in rasi chart under malefic influence, it indicates concerns related to marriage & marital life.   

As per Vedic Astrology principle of Karko-bhav-Nashaya, Venus placed in 7th house in rasi chart indicates concerns for marriage. This not complete truth. Lal Kitab says if Venus is placed in 7th house & inauspicious as per LK principles & native marries to beautiful with extremely whitish complexion, it will give problems related to marital life.

A person neither cares for nor gives due respect to the karaka of debilitated planet. If afflicted also & placed in trik house, it shows denial.  

Lord of 64th Navamsha in D-9 is 4th lord from Moon in D-9. Its dasa gives concerns for health / wealth /  personal life depending upon overall combinations of horoscope. 

In transit, when 64th Navamsha lord & 22nd Dreshkana lord or 85th Dwadashamsha lords are conjunct or in mutual aspect & transit in either of these rasi in rasi chart, it gives bad results especially when rasi has low AV bindus. 

Transit of malefic over these rasi also gives inauspicious results

7th lord of rasi chart if placed in 6/8 houses in rasi chart indicates concerns in marital life like extra marital affairs, health issues for spouse etc. 

Natural benefic planets in 8th house in female rasi chart indicates good longevity of marital life & the female native generally dies before spouse. But malefic indicates widowhood. 

7th lord of rasi chart or Venus if placed in 8th house with a malefic under malefic influence, it will indicate loss of spouse & loss of significations of lordship during dasa period of 7L / Venus or malefic involved

While considering Mangal dosha, an Astrologer should ascertain the level of maleficence of Mars in regards to capacity to kill through rules of LK. Vedic rules are not very clear to declare that Mars will kill the spouse.

DIVISIONAL CHART ANALYSIS D -7

 

Saptamsha D-7

As per BPHS, D-7 is seen for progeny & grand progeny. Each rasi is divided in seven equal parts. The counting starts from rasi placement itself for  planet placed in odd sign. The reverse applies for planets in even sign. For example, planet placed in Aries in first division will be placed in Aries Saptamsha. Next Saptamsha will fall in Taurus & so on. For planet placed in Taurus sign in first division, counting will start from seventh from Taurus. So planet placed in Taurus in first division will be placed in Scorpio Saptamsha. Names of the seven divisions in odd sign are Kshar (alkali), Ksheer (milk), dadhi (curd), Aajya (melted or clarified butter),  Ikshu rasa (sugarcane syrup), madya (intoxicating liquid like liquor) & shudha jala (pure water). For even signs, it is reversed.    

Astrological meaning of seven divisions 

Kshar (alkali): Gives achievement after hard work & struggle. Can easily form relations with people. Motivational nature. Strong outfit outwards to the extent that he/she can create fears in others mind but internally soft nature. Can be sarcastic at times & deeply anxious at some other time. Helpful in nature & can spend even money for helping others. 

Ksheer (milk): Like milk, he/she may be sweet natured. A troubleshooter & can give emotional security to others. 

Dadhi (curd): Curd is ruled by Venus, so it gives attractive & charming personality. He/she will be liked by most of the people as sociable. Generally positive nature & pure at heart. It gives physical comforts & luxuries.  

Ajaya (melted butter): Melted butter is again ruled by Venus but in purified form. It makes one performer of good deeds & spiritual. Gets respect among scholars & religious people.    

Ikshu rasa (Sugarcane syrup): Like Mars, it makes one hard working & gives authority position.  One can guard himself as brave as a lion. 

Madya (intoxicating liquid like liquor): Like Saturn, makes one smart & practical. Like a intoxicated person, it makes one feel emotionally high & happy.  

Shudha jala (pure water): Like Moon &  flowing holy rive like Ganga, it makes one pure hearted, protective, pleasing in nature & gives respect all-round.

• First House 

The promise of progeny. It also shows our inclination towards progeny. A natural benefic in lagna indicates strong inclination to beget progeny whereas a natural malefic in lagna especially afflicted or debilitated may indicate that person is not inclined for progeny.

How to analyze D-1 & D-7 & superimpose D-7 

• Jupiter is the key planet for progeny especially male progeny. Mercury comes into picture for daughter as Mercury is karaka planet of daughters. 
• Lagna lord of rasi chart should be well placed in D-7 chart. If placed in trik houses, it indicates trouble through children. 
• 5th lord of rasi chart & Jupiter should be well placed in D-7 chart. 
• 5th lord & lagna lord of rasi chart should not be in 6/8 position from each other in rasi chart & D-7 chart.
• Rajyogas present in D-7 will give good position for children
• Dhana Yogas present in D-7 chart will give wealthy children & promises more than one child.
• Lagna lord of D-7 chart if well placed & under benefic influence, it gives siblings (for children).  
• If most of the planets are exalted in D-7 chart, it shows great positivity for both native & children. For example, if Jupiter is exalted & well placed in D-7 chart, it means that progeny will get great affection & love of father. Similarly, Moon for mother. It will also give wealth & status for both native & children & children will get their due ancestral wealth. Reverse applies for debilitated & afflicted planets. 
• Genetic link can be seen through rasi & D-7 chart. BVB research indicates that Moon & Mars of child will be related to 5H/5L or 9H/9L of parents. 
• Overall planetary position of children in their rasi & Navamsha chart will be similar to parents. For example, if both parents have a debilitated planet, do not expect it be exalted in children charts. 
• 11H of D-7 is important house as secondary house for predicting progeny. For first child, planet related to both 5H & 11H will be more promising for child birth
• Jupiter placed in lagna of D-7 chart if afflicted indicates problems related to progeny if D-1 also shows concerns
• Mars gives miscarriages. Saturn can give diseased child or a still birth.
• Combustion along with affliction to the planets concerned shows problems related to progeny. 
•  Mars related to both lagna & 4H indicates that native may have step mother or his / her upbringing will be done by someone other than mother

Divisional Chart Analysis D-4

Chaturthamsha D-4

As per BPHS, D-4 is seen for destiny. D-4 is also seen for property related matters, happiness etc. Each rasi is divided in four equal parts hence in D-4, planets will be placed in kendra sthana from its position in rasi chart. The ruling deities from first to fourth divisions are Sanak, Sanand, Sanat Kumar & Sanatan respectively. 

Sanak means the craze or obsession. Planet placed in this division will give craze or obsession towards meeting objectives. In simple words, it tends to give strong determination.

Sanand means with pleasure. Planet placed in this division will make the native enjoy his journey towards his goals. Even during difficult times, native will not show signs of frustration or negativity towards life. 

Sanat Kumar means perpetually or consistently or continuously young. Planet placed in this division supports regaining of state of happiness. 

Sanatan means which exists from beginning till end of this universe. Planets placed in this division promotes long term happiness. Hence if a benefic planet is placed in this division under benefic influence in rasi chart, it will give long term happiness especially in its dasa periods.

For example, if Saturn as a functional benefic has to give property to native, it may restrict native to small house but only up to the age of 36 years. Afterwards, native may shift to big house during auspicious & relevant dasa period. 
• Functional benefic planet of rasi chart related to 4H of rasi chart if connected to 11H of D-4 chart, it will give auspicious results in its dasa period. Even connection with 4H or lagna of D-4 is capable to confer auspicious results.

Lagna of any divisional chart indicates our inclination towards that divisional chart. As D-3 is for siblings, lagna of D-3 will indicate inclination of native towards his / her siblings. • Auspicious lords like LL, 5L & 9L are to be re-examined in D-3 for their placement & inter relationship in D-3.
• Check for a functional malefic planet of D-1 placed in which rasi of D-1 chart in D-3 & which house in D-3 chart. Check for 8th lord of D-3 placed in which house of D-1 chart. For example, if 8th lord of D-3 is afflicted in D-1 chart & placed in trik houses in D-1 chart, its malefic effects will intensify especially when it proves to be functional malefic in D-1 chart  
• Check for planet who is aspected by its D-3 lord in D-1 chart. That planet will give auspicious effects relevant for that divisional chart for native.
• A planet placed in 4/8/12 rasi in D-1 chart if placed in Sarpa Dreshkana, it gives health concerns especially if no nitya karma / pooja are performed. A planet placed in sarpa dreshkana in D-1 especially in Meena rasi gives spiritual inclination even if it is Rahu. 
• Planet placed in D-3 gives results as per its name like Chatushpad, Pakshi etc. 
• Raj Yoga seen as per lordship of D-3 gives well to do siblings especially when we do not see deficiencies in D-1.
• Dhana Yoga of D-3 may give more than one & wealthy siblings.
• Interlinking of native & sibling horoscope can be done by overlapping D-3 charts.
