THE 12 PERMANENT HOUSES
After we have prepared the birth horoscope as per Vedic Astrology system, we will not consider the rasi in different houses at initial stages of learning. Rather we may consider only permanent houses like first house, second house etc. For convenience of analyses, we can mark lagna as house number 1; second house as 2 etc. else we can leave them vacant.
FIRST HOUSE
The first house is considered as throne & planet placed in first house is called as the king. When first house is occupied by an exalted planet or by well placed planet as per LK rules, it is no doubt auspicious but if 7H is vacant, the planet in lagna will be of doubtful results & may be called as sleeping planet (till its age or otherwise gets activated). We will study about activation of planet in later chapters. 1H, 8H & 11H are looked for analysis together. Planet in lagna makes the personality of the person & native may utilize it for his / her livelihood. For example, Saturn will make the native cunning, smart, practical, slow decision making etc.
Planet of 8H is considered as eyes of the planet placed in 1H. Planet placed in 11H is considered as feet of the planet of 1H. It means the planet of 1H will get ambitions, vision of future, future planning etc. through planet of 8H. If they are friendly planets, it will give auspicious results & native will be a positive thinker, a good planner & will make out his / her future properly. If they are inimical, one can expect opposite results. Similarly, if planet of 11H is friendly to planet of 1H, native will be hard working & dedicated towards it work. If all three are friendly, one can expect at par excellent results.
If there is a planet in 1H & there are multiple planets in 7H, it would mean that the king will have more than one minister to advice. If they are friendly planets, it may be auspicious. But if they are inimical, it may become difficult to take a decision. Planets of 7H may try to dominate the planet placed in 1H. After the age of the planet of 1H, they may damage the planet of the 1H. If planet placed in 7H among multiple planets is stronger than planet of 1H, it will give inauspicious results as that planet may try to enforce its decisions. In opposite situation, when 1H has multiple planets & 7H has a planet, the minister will found it difficult to manage things as there will be multiple kings to listen to. The planets who are exalted or debilitated in 1H & 7H do not enter into fight in these houses but other inimical planets do fight with each other & poses threat of longevity also.
To appreciate the results of above, let us take an example
Say, Jupiter, Moon, Rahu & Mercury are placed in 1H & Ketu is placed in 7H. Till the age of Mercury i.e. 34 years, native may not beget male child (Ketu). In case native begets male child, the child may die. And till the age of Ketu i.e. 48 years, only one male child will be there. If second male child (Ketu) is born from 48 years, native's daughter etc. (Mercury) will suffer on account of homeless, characterless, insulted etc. As a remedy, if native donates (or at least serves) any 4 different animals (like dog, horse, Cow, parrot etc.), it will be auspicious to beget male progeny & after the native begets male progeny, Jupiter, Moon, Rahu, Mercury will give results like a Raj Yoga.
When artificial Mars is also present in horoscope (Mars benefic Sun + Mercury or Mars malefic Sun + Saturn), 1H will aspect 11H.
When 11H is vacant, planet of 1H will give its results as per good or bad placement of Mercury in the horoscope.
When 8H is vacant, there will be no obstruction for eyes of planet of 1H (as mentioned above) & that planet will positively use its own eyes.
When there are multiple planets in 1H, Venus becomes the base planet for them. It means that assume as if Venus itself is placed in 1H & decide as per the good or bad placement of Venus in the horoscope.
When a planet comes to the 1H (in Varshphala also), it is considered as the King so powerful.
During the period of Jupiter (dasa or age etc.), planet placed in lagna does not carry enmity with other planets. Strength of Moon will be 1/2, Venus & Saturn 3/4 & Ketu 5/6. During the period of Sun or Rahu, Jupiter remains as silent planet.
When bad planet is placed in 1H, during period of Jupiter, auspicious results of 1H will be felt through Jupiter up to 8 years & inauspicious results will be experienced after 8 years. For example, say Mars is placed in lagna with inimical planet being placed in its permanent house, Jupiter will give good results of Mars for 8 years followed by bad results.
During the period of Sun, planet placed in 1H is not considered debilitated. When Sun & Venus are conjunct, native may generally beget daughter (Mercury) but male child (Ketu) may not be borne.
During period of Venus or Venus with other planets does not enforces other planets to give results like a debilitation rather other planets may force Venus to give results like a debilitated planet.
During period of Mars benefic, Venus, Saturn & Mars-malefic results are reduced to 1/3; Ketu or Mercury results are reduced to 1/2.
During period of Rahu, Sun results are 0 & Moon's halved. During period of Ketu, Moon results are 0 & Sun's halved.
During the period of Moon, none behaves inimical. But Moon with other planets especially with inimical, Moon itself reduces its good results to 1/2.
Above mentioned interpretation is applicable for conjunctions also.
