Progeny as per Vedic Astrology

If 5th lord is posited in inimical sign or in debilitation or combust and placed in 6/8/12 houses from lagna, it inidcates problems in begetting children. Similarly, if a planet is posited in 5th house in inimical sign or in debilitation or combust or posited in 5th as lord of 6/8/12 houses; it indicates problems in begetting children. If there are more than one combination as mentioned above, it indicates more problems. If the said planet is Sun, it indicates ancestral curse or offense against Lord Shiva. Moon indicates curse of Mother like ladies or Goddess. Mars indicates curse from brothers or enemies or Lord Kartik. Mercury signifies killing of cats or destroying eggs of fishes etc or curse of girls under puberty or Lord vishnu. Jupiter indicates destruction of fruit bearing trees in previous births or curse of family Priest. Venus shows destruction of flower bearing trees or sin against cows.  Saturn signifies destruction of Pipal trees or curse of Yama or spirits.Rahu denotes curse of snakes and Ketu indicates spirits. If Venus and Moon joins Maandi, native had either killed or harassed either Cow or young girl in previous births. If Ketu or Jupiter are in 5th with Maandi, native had either killed or harassed temple Priest in previous birth.

To ward off evils, one should serve the connected living beings or Worship related deity for continuous 13 months followed by Maha Yagya.

Karka or Significator

Natural Karka as per Maha Rishi Parasara

Sun - Father
Moon - Mother
Mars - Brothers
Mercury - Profession
Jupiter - Children
Venus - Spouse
Saturn - Longevity
Rahu - Maternal Side
Ketu - Patenral Side

Karka as per Maha Rishi Jamini

Atmakarka : This is the most important karka among all as it rules the native himself. The planet with highest degrees (excluding sign) becomes Atmakarka. The natural Atmakarks is Sun.

Amatyakarka : The planet with second highest degrees is Amatyakarka. It governs over second house signfications.

Bhratukarka : Planet whose longitude is next to Amatyakarka. It rules over siblings. Mars is natural bhratukarka.

Matrukarka: It rules over mother and is the planet with degrees next to Bhratukarka. Moon is natural karka of Mother.

Putrakarka : Next one is Putrakarka who rules over progeny. Natural karka is Jupiter.

Gnathikarka : It rules over relations like cousins. Natural karka is Mars.

Darakarka : It rules over spouse. Venus is natural karka.

Exceptions in Jamini Karkas

When two or more planets occupy same longitude, they will share the same karka. In that case, the lordships will be filled up by first Rahu and than by other natural karka. For example, if Putrakarka is vacant, Jupiter (natural karka) will become Jamini Karka also.

How do you know whether a male is sexually potent and capable to produce child

Not down the longitudes of Sun, Venus and Jupiter including signs. For example, if Sun is in Leo and 25 degrees 15 minutes; we will note it as 4Signs (crossed)-25Degrees-15 minutes. There are total 12 signs-30 degrees and 60 minutes.

Add the longitudes of Sun, Venus and Jupiter and sum total is called as Beeja Sphuta. It is called as Beeja as beeja means the seeds or semen in the case of men. If beeja sphuta is in odd Sign and odd Navmansha - D-9 chart (For Navmansha calculation, please refer below the post), the male is sexually potent. If beeja sphuta is odd in only Rashi or Navmansha, it indicates mixed results and native may required medical intervention. If beeja sphuta is even in both Rashi and Navmansha, male is sexually impotent.

Lets take an example.

Sun is in Cancer 25 degrees 54 minutes
Jupiter is in Cancer 23 degrees
Venus is in Leo 20 degrees 10 minutes.

Lets add them:

3S-25D-54M
3S-23D-00M
4S-20D-10M

64 Minutes means 4 minutes as we will add one D against 60 minutes in Degrees i.e. 68+1 i.e. 69 degrees. 69 degrees means 2 Signs and 9 degrees hence we get 10+2 = 12 signs.

The final figure we get is 12 Signs crossed 9 Degrees 4 minutes. As it is 12 signs crossed, we get beeja sphuta as Aries-9D-4M. Navmansha is Gemini. Both are odd signs hence the male is sexually comptent and potent. If in case we get more than 12 signs, we will subtract it from 12. for example if we get 14 signs crossed, our beeja sphuta 14-12=2 signs crossed i.e. Gemini.

One can also convert sign-deg-minute into minutes before adding and converting back to sign-degrees-minute for finding Beeja Sphuta

How do you know whether a Female is sexually potent and capable to produce child

Instead of Beeja Sphuta, we will calculate Kshetra Sphuta. For Kshetra Sphuta, we will add Longitudes of Moon, Mars and Jupiter. Jupiter remains common as significator of child. If both Rashi and Navmansha are even, Female is sexually competent and potent. If either of the two is even, it indictaes mix results and Female may require medical intervention. If both Rashi and Navmansha are odd, Female is sexually impotent.

Alternate method to find out Sexual Potency

Multiply Longitudes of above mentioned planets by 27 and add them. The sum total is Beeja Sphuta or Kshetra Sphuta. Look for the result in similar fashion.

If you get contrary result from the two methods, give more weight-age to the second one.

*The other planetary combination may not be ignored.

D-9 Calculation: There are total 9 divisions of 3 degrees and 20 minutes. When a planet is posited in movable (1/4/7/10) signs, start counting from the sign itself. for example if Jupiter is posited in Aries 11 degrees, we will start counting from Cancer itself with each division of 3 degrees and 20 minutes. Hence, Jupiter will be in Cancer Navmansha. Similarly, if Jupiter is placed in Aries 2 degrees, Jupiter will be in Aries Navmansha only.

For Fix signs (2/5/8/11), start counting from 9th sign. for example, if a planet is posited in Taurus 4 degrees, we will start counting from Capricorn. So if it is 4 degrees it will go to second Navmansha i.e. Aquarius.

For Dual signs (3/6/9/12), start counting from 5th sign.

To explain it in other words, for 1/5/9 signs, counting will always start from Aries.
For 3/7/11, couting will start from Libra.
For 2/6/10, counting will start from Capricorn.
